Crystal Ricotta | Bio

Well, besides being the cheese in your lasagna or the filling in a delicious crêpe, here's a few things about me, the artist, mama, lover & inspired soul.... I grew up in a very rural town where roads didn't have names. (well until 911 along.)

Nearby in the town of Philipsburg, Pennsylvania my family owns & operates "Ricotta Jewelry & Gifts." My father, James works as a talented watchmaker & jeweler. He specialzes in the making & repair of antique pocket-watches, & jewelry. [This also includes anything else that is broken such as glasses, lawn-mowers, old cars.)

Besides the 100+ clocks ticking & tocking, there were always many forms of art around to look & play with. Being creative seemed to run through my blood. It was motivating & uplifting. Back in the day there wasn't a blank sheet of paper that I would let pass by. My favorite drawings were done in-school & out dining. Around the age of 12 - at this little IItalian Restaurant I made a waitress who was best known for her 'perma-frown,' bust a chop with my 'Adam & Eve' rendition. Something neither of us were expecting at the time. lol.

My family was always supportive of my interests & talents. They presented me with various years of art classes, dance instruction, gymnastics, local theatre, singing, saxophone lessons & racing in Soap Box Derby. In addition to my personal interests there was always the constant exposure to their business & interesting hobbies like antique collecting, mud & drag racing, railroads & perennial - vegetable gardening. This love & experiences gave me a strength & confidence to follow my heart at a young age.

My early interests for drawing, painting & art appreciation - lead me into the realm of digital art media. At Clarion University of Pennsylavania, I combined a Bachelors Degree in Communications along with a Minor in 2D Art (with a focus on graphic design & hand-drawn iIllustration.) The hard work during college landed me out west in Tucson, Arizona. However in a field where new technologies are always emerging, there was still much to learn to becoming the seasoned designer & Art Director I so desired.

Before I was self-employed my work experiences ranged from companies like the Maryland Times Press, Tucson Weekly, VCReporter, Tahoe Daily Tribune, Nevada Appeal, 451 Media, Ventura Life & Style Magazine & other media-design studios. These positions, along with my many mentors has led led me to successfully operating my own graphic design & website development business for over 4 years now. I am fortuanate & grateful that I can do what I love professioanally - nationally & locally - but especially in beautful Lake Tahoe.

Thank you for taking the time to read. If you have any comments or questions, please send me your comment below. peace ~c.
